Analysis Laboratory

Innosys R&D provides analytical laboratory services to customers targeting the best price, the highest standard in shortest time. Our laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited from oil shale (bituminous shale) analyses. Sample preparation, execution of analysis according to worldwide accepted standards (Commonly ASTM) and reporting activities are in our scope. Our laboratory carries following analyses:

Sample Preparation

Crushing and grinding of solid samples (oil shale, coal and coke) using ASTM D 346 ve ASTM D 2013 standard methods.

Gas composition by GC-MS

Shale gas is collected from Modified Fischer Assay analyses and composition (%C1-C6 hydrocarbon, %CO2, %CO, %O2, %N2, %H2, %H2S) is determined by using GC-MS analyzer.

Ultimate (CHNS – O) Analyses

Determination of % total carbon, % total hydrogen, % total nitrogen, % total sulfur and % total oxygen content of solids (oil shale, spent shale, shale ash, coal, coke, mud, sludge, soil, sediment etc.) according to ASTM D 4239 ve ASTM D 5357 standard methods.

Higher Heating Value Determination

Determination of HHV and LHV (sulfur, hydrogen air dry moisture determination must be done for LHV) on solids (oil shale, spent shale, coal, coke, biomass etc.) and liquids (crude oil, shale oil, synthetic oil etc.) according to ISO 1928 standard method.

Bulk Shale Oil Production

We produce up 2 liters of shale oil from oil shale using our 10 kg intake capacity batch reactor by customer demand. Produced shale is used for TBP (True Boiling Point) analyses that is the first step to investigate refinery options, market and sales price of shale oil. For 1 TBP analysis minimum 20 liters of bulk oil is necessary.

Modified Fischer Assay

Determination of % oil yield, % gas + loss, % spent shale yield and % pyro water (mineral water) yield of oil shale according to ASTM D 3904 or ISO 647 standard methods.

Proximate Analysis

Determination of % moisture, % ash and % volatile content of solid samples (coal, coke, oil shale, biomass etc.) according to ASTM 7582 standard method.

Total Inorganic Carbon (TIC) Analyses:

Determination of TIC content of solids (Oil shale, spent shale, shale ash, coal, coke, biomass, mud, soil, sediment, limestone etc.) according to EN 15936 standard method.

Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyses

Determination of TOC content of solids (Oil shale, spent shale, shale ash, coal, coke, biomass, mud, soil, sediment, limestone etc.) according to EN 15936 standard method.

Specific Gravity Determination

API density and API ° determination on liquids (crude oil, synthetic oil, shale oil, liquids from Modified Fischer Assay analyses) according to ASTM 7777 standard method.

We do not carry geotechnical analyses (XRF, XRD, ICP-MS, Bulk/true density, porosity etc.) which requires different kind of expertise. We send samples for geotechnical analyses to accredited partner laboratories when demanded by the customer. We provide full service with the best price to our customers.
